SPRINGFIELD HEROES
BANNER PROGRAM

The Heroes Banner Program honors Springfield's hometown heroes -- firefighters, ambulance corps, police and law enforcement, military veterans, serving military, first responders and military who died in the line of duty, and military missing in action.

The program launched on May 8, 2021 with the installment of the banner to honor Philadelphia and Springfield Firefighter, Captain Matthew LeTourneau, who died in the line of duty January 6, 2018.

As of March 28, 2025, there are a total of 59 banners currently installed. Given space is limited and to ensure banners do not remain after they begin to deteriorate, banners generally remain installed for about one year.
Springfield American Legion Post 227 greatly appreciates the support of the Hero Banner Program by the Springfield community, its commissioners, and the township management and employees.
